The scientific journey behind OPC080
Years of collaborative research have laid the foundations for OncoPanCure Therapeutics
While OncoPanCure Therapeutics was only recently incorporated, the scientific journey behind its lead candidate, OPC080, began several years ago.
The project originated from a multidisciplinary collaboration between researchers at IQS School of Engineering (Universitat Ramon Llull) and the oncology specialists at Xenopat S.L., combining expertise in medicinal chemistry, computational drug design, cancer biology, pharmacology, and translational oncology.
Since 2019, the research team has worked to discover, optimize, and validate a novel small molecule capable of targeting critical signaling pathways involved in pancreatic cancer progression.
Over the years, OPC080 has progressed from early hit identification through lead optimization and extensive preclinical evaluation. The compound has demonstrated encouraging antitumor activity in pancreatic cancer models and has generated a strong body of scientific evidence supporting its continued development.
The research has also benefited from competitive public funding through Spanish national research programmes, enabling the project to advance from fundamental discovery toward translational development.
These achievements culminated in the filing of an international patent application and, ultimately, in the creation of OncoPanCure Therapeutics to continue the journey toward clinical evaluation.

Today, OncoPanCure Therapeutics is focused on completing the remaining preclinical regulatory studies required to advance OPC080 into clinical development.
